Onam Festivities at Suncity Apartment

Kerala Community in Suncity apartment were joined by fellow Suncity Residents to celebrate Onam.
A most exquisite pookalam was prepared on this day to welcome the spirit of King Maveli. There was traditional dance form Thiruvadira done by the ladies to welcome Maveli which enthralled the audience.
There were professional events organized ‘Chaakyarkoothu ‘which is father of modern day stand-up comedy with the theme of Paanchali Swayamvaram. The first half saw the audience rolling with laughter on this performance.
This was followed by a sumptuous lunch – a traditional feast served on a plantain leaf.
All day through we saw many events from residents -Bharat Natyam dance, Mimicry, Songs, Group Dances, group songs from all age group - kids, youngsters and senior citizens.
The beats of the percussion instrument Chenda traditionally called the – ‘Chendamelam” rocked the afternoon
Final event was the flash mob by children, the mood of which was heightened with the rains.
The program ended with Tug of War event for SAOA staff, kids and all youngsters
